Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Jarryd Baillie (“I”, “me”, “the Operator”) handles information when you use the Subjects iOS app and this website (together, the “Service”).
Questions: jarrydbaillie.dev@gmail.com.
1. Summary
Subjects is built so your timetable can live on your device. Your display name, subjects, classes, homework, and reminder settings are stored locally on your iPhone (including the Subjects App Group used by widgets). You do not need an account to use the app.
Some optional features send limited data to third parties so those features can work: analytics, in-app purchases, App Check, and Smart Schedule scan.
2. Information stored on your device
The app stores, on your device:
- The display name you choose during setup
- Subjects, teachers, locations, colours, and icons
- Weekly timetable entries
- Homework and other tasks, including due dates and completion state
- Notification preferences and a local record of whether Subjects Pro is active
This information is not uploaded to a Subjects account or Subjects cloud database, because the app does not provide one. Uninstalling Subjects deletes this local data.
3. Information we process for features
Camera and photo library
If you use Smart Schedule scan, you can photograph a timetable or pick an image from your library. The image is used only to extract a draft timetable. You review and edit the result before it replaces your schedule. Subjects does not keep a photo gallery of your scans on a server operated by the Operator.
Smart Schedule (Firebase AI Logic / Google)
Scan uses Firebase AI Logic (Google) to read a timetable from the image you provide. The image (and the text extracted from it) is processed by Google to return structured timetable data. Do not scan images that contain information you are not comfortable sending to Google for this purpose. Daily scan limits may apply.
Diagnostics and analytics (Firebase)
The app uses Google Firebase (including Analytics and App Check). Firebase may collect device and usage information such as app events, device identifiers used for analytics and App Check, crash or performance signals, and country/language inferred from the device. App Check uses Apple App Attest on release devices to help confirm requests come from the genuine app.
Purchases (Apple and RevenueCat)
Subjects Pro is sold as an auto-renewable subscription through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple processes payment. RevenueCat is used to check entitlement status (whether Pro is active) so the app can unlock Pro features and restore purchases. RevenueCat may receive purchase tokens, product identifiers, and anonymous App Store identifiers. The Operator does not receive your full payment card details.
Notifications
Class and task reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. The Operator does not send marketing push campaigns through this app.
This website
This site is hosted on Firebase Hosting. Standard server logs (such as IP address, user agent, and requested URL) may be collected by Google as part of hosting the site.
4. How this information is used
- To provide the timetable, tasks, widgets, and reminders you set up
- To run Smart Schedule scan when you ask for it
- To unlock and restore Subjects Pro
- To understand whether the app is working and how features are used
- To protect the Service (for example with App Check)
The Operator does not sell your personal information.
5. Third parties
These providers process data as described above, under their own policies:
- Apple — App Store, In-App Purchase, App Attest, device OS services
- Google / Firebase — Analytics, App Check, AI Logic, Hosting
- RevenueCat — subscription status
You can read more at Apple’s privacy policy, Google’s privacy policy, and RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
6. Children
Subjects is an education utility. It is not directed at children under 13, and the Operator does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Service, contact the email above and it will be deleted where reasonably possible.
7. International processing
Firebase, Google, Apple, and RevenueCat may process information in the United States and other countries. If you use the Service from elsewhere, you understand that this processing may occur outside your country of residence.
8. Retention
Local app data remains on your device until you delete it in the app or uninstall Subjects. Completed homework may be removed automatically after a retention period in the app. Analytics and purchase records are retained by the relevant providers according to their practices and legal requirements. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to help you and run the Service.
9. Your choices
- You can decline camera or photo access in iOS Settings. Scan will not work without an image.
- You can disable notifications in iOS Settings or in the app.
- You can manage or cancel Subjects Pro in your Apple ID subscriptions.
- You can limit Apple’s app analytics sharing in iOS Settings where Apple provides that control.
- You can ask for access, correction, or deletion of personal information the Operator holds (for example support emails) by writing to jarrydbaillie.dev@gmail.com.
Because timetable data is stored on device, the Operator generally cannot retrieve or remotely delete that data from your iPhone.
10. Changes
This policy may be updated from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when it does. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
